Course Overview

This unique introductory one-day practical workshop was developed after seeing how these new mindful, relaxing, enjoyable, evidence-based exercises successfully helped in the rehabilitation of patients.

Prerequisite: None

Number of Participants: 20 (in-person) / 14 (online)

Key Points:
· Movement principles
· Benefits and research evidence
· 1:1 and group exercises
· Seated and standing exercises
· Experience a Tai Chi Exercise class
· Perform Tai Chi walking
· Learn the choreography of five of the Shibashi exercises
· Discussion of specific case studies and how to integrate Tai Chi Exercises into clinical practice

This one-day practical workshop has been developed after popular demand from previous attendees who wanted to experience more Tai Chi and learn the remaining Shibashi moves.

Prerequisite: Attendance of Part 1 and implementation of exercises into clinical practice

Number of Participants: 12 (in-person) / 14 (online)

Key Points:
· Review movement principles
· 1:1 and group exercises
· Seated and standing exercises
· Experience a Tai Chi Exercise class
· Perform advanced Tai Chi walking
· Learn the choreography of the remaining 13 of the 18 Shibashi exercises
· Discussion of specific case studies and share experiences of integrating Tai Chi Exercises into clinical practice since attending Part 1

General Information
Hosted Course Tutor: Rosalind Smith (MCSP)

For in-person courses
Venue: To be arranged by the course organiser
Times: 9.30am – 4.30pm (can be adjusted by an hour either way)

For online courses
Venue: Conducted over Zoom with Class Recordings made available.
Times: To be confirmed with the course organiser

Who are these courses for?
These courses are designed to be of interest and practical use for Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Nurses, Clinical Psychologists as well as Assistants, Technical Instructors and students. Tai Chi and Qigong Instructors who are interested in working in the health field are also very welcome to attend.

Hosting Requirements (for in-person courses):
These courses require a warm, large hall/gym with good acoustics (approx 80 sq.metres based on the maximum of 20 participants but please contact me if in doubt).
The only equipment required is a flip chart stand, 2 tables (one to set up the register etc. and one to put my course notes and resources books, articles etc. on) and chairs (preferably without arms) for participants to sit on. Note: if you are outside Great Britain I will work out travel expenses and provide you with an all inclusive quotation for your course.

Procedure:
About six weeks before the course I will contact you to request a list of attendees and their course expectations.

CPD Requirements:
A Certificate of Attendance will be issued to each participant when the course is completed

Travel Expenses:
Please note, for Hosted courses outside of England, Wales and Scotland there will be an additional invoice to cover the cost of flights, etc., which will be confirmed via email.

Cancellation Policy:
There is no cancellation charge provided the cancellation is at least 4 weeks before the course date. If less than 4 weeks notice is given then a cancellation charge will be made for any non-recoverable costs incurred for booked accommodation and transport. If circumstances occur that cause me to have to cancel a course you will receive a full refund. Tai Chi Exercises is not liable for any additional expenses you may incur following a course cancellation.
